It is well known in Sahaja Yoga that the cause of diabetes is too much thinking!
Now then you go from there to another very important work is that of the pancreas which looks after or caters of dissolving your sugar. But when you have this pancreas in a mess because this centre is not looking after it, then you develop a horrible disease called diabetes and this diabetes only happens to people who sit down and think too much, who plan too much, mostly to bureaucrats and maybe to politicians. [Laughter] I don’t know. (Source: [1])
Diabetes can be easily cured if you stop thinking, but how to stop thinking is the problem, which I”ll tell you later. (Source: [2] )
A distinction must be made between diabetes mellitus type 1 and type 2; they have different causes. Our cells need sugar to obtain energy from it. The cells have doors for the sugar, but these doors need a key so that the sugar can enter the cells. This key is insulin and is produced in the pancreas. Both types of diabetes involve the fact that sugar can no longer enter the cells as effectively.
Over 90% of all diabetics in Germany are type 2 diabetics. It typically occurs in middle to older age.
Medically speaking, too much thinking is not a risk factor. It is possible that under stress, hormones like cortisol are released, and these increase blood sugar to provide the body with energy for a "fight or flight" response. If the state of stress persists for a long time, it could reduce the insulin sensitivity of the cells.
So it is indirectly possible that stress, triggered by the way one thinks, increases the risk of type 2 diabetes. However, it is not the primary trigger and should not be confused with the main risk factors.
In type 1 diabetes, not enough keys are produced. The insulin deficiency is the result of an autoimmune destruction of the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas. In Germany, approx. 5-10% of all diabetics.
Type 1 diabetes mellitus usually occurs in childhood, but more recent data suggests that only 50-60% of new cases occur under the age of 16, meaning type 1 diabetes can occur at any time during life.
The disease often occurs in childhood. Therefore, too much thinking cannot be the cause of the diabetes.
Furthermore, diabetes also occurs in dogs and cats and other animals.
Therefore, the above quote from Mataji is a false statement, because in this quote she claims that diabetes comes ONLY from thinking too much and that it is easily cured if one stops thinking.
